Wheel Throwing with Nerikomi

We are Melbourne’s only studio specialising in Nerikomi—the art of marbled clay. Layers of coloured clay come together to form intricate, one-of-a-kind patterns that reveal themselves as you shape your piece, making every creation truly unique.

Join our 2-hour Marbled Clay Wheel Throwing Class to create unique marbled ceramics on the wheel. No experience needed. Guided by our experienced instructors, you’ll learn the fundamentals of centring, shaping, and forming clay on the wheel.

Each participant will be provided with three pieces of white clay and one coloured clay, with the opportunity to create and take home two professionally glazed and fired pieces, ready for collection in approximately 3 weeks. Your pieces will be professionally trimmed and glazed by our studio. If you love all three pieces, additional pieces can be glazed and fired for $10 each.

In the final 20 minutes, we’ll tidy up together and guide you in choosing a glaze to complete your pieces.

If you’d like to create your own unique designs with underglaze, you’re welcome to return once your pieces have completed bisque firing. You can book a studio access session to decorate your work using our range of underglaze colours. The session includes full use of underglaze colours, and a clear glaze will be professionally applied by our studio before the final firing.
